Many people begin the new year with resolutions or what I like to call intentions. This year I decided to see what the year decides for me. With the invitation to the wedding, I made the decision to re-connect with family and friends of what I would make a week long vacation. When I returned, I have decided any travel plans I take will have some theme of connecting with others. If I travel on my own, I will connect with others at my destination. If I go on a sight-seeing type vacation, then my intention will be to connect with any travel companions.
My intentions are also to connect in other ways. The easiest way I have been able to connect with others is through Facebook. Last year I purchased my first smart phone and with that I have interacted on Facebook more readily. Due to
my work schedule, this is the best way to keep up with those who I don’t have a chance to see on a regular basis. Some are old friends or classmates I have not seen in a long time. Granted it doesn’t replace catching up in person but everyone has their lives to lead and there are those who truly are busy; the best way to keep up with their fast paced lives is via social networking. I feel comfortable enough with Facebook that I have created a page that compliments this blog — www.facebook.com/iamaspiritualadventurer. My hope with this page is to make someone’s day a little brighter.
In the last few weeks I have made the conscious decision to join all the flutter on Twitter. I am still very new to it to decide if I will make any true connections with it but thus far it has served to be useful with being aprised with local happenings by following those organizations and people in my area of the world.
My goal is to keep moving, keep “shaking hands” and saying “hello, nice to meet you” as often as possible. Most of those that I cross paths with will be brief encounters but along the way I may meet others who are headed in the same direction for a time — and it is with these connections that the true adventure occurs.
