The Answer is Love

Hello everyone. I’m back to writing on this page. I know I have gone on and off this page for many years now. I’ve had to go inside, far inside to understand why I am here. Why am I writing on this page about my journey on this planet? I have so many questions and so few answers.

Most everyone asks the question at least once in their lifetime if not daily – why am I here? As a planet, we’ve heard the answer to that question through the ages. We are here for one reason and one reason only – to love.  We have heard the answer in stories or have read them in sacred writings but we don’t know love. More importantly we do not know how to express love. How can we express love when we don’t know it? We regularly see evidence of our not knowing love when we dare to listen to or watch the corporate media. Through them we seem to fail expressing love on a daily basis.

Well, I have learned a few things while I have been in hermit mode. First, love begins inside of the individual. Love begins in our hearts. The heart is the engine that is fueled by love. Being kind to ourselves in thoughts and actions shows us and others how we want to be treated. If we are mistreated our heart breaks and needs healing. Since the heart is our most vulnerable organ in our body, it may take time to heal. The more you love yourself, the quicker you heal.

Second, love is an energy that is fearless. You cannot love if you are afraid. Love does not exist where there is fear. The good news is fear cannot exist where there is love. Love yourself with all your heart to speak up, to leave a toxic situation, or to start that new business. Fear is endless when you are worried about what others think or say. Overcoming obstacles seems impossible until you love yourself just enough to not care what others think and you find yourself on the other side of that obstacle. Once you realize what you have accomplished, you begin to love yourself more. With more love, the impossible fades and the more I’m possible becomes an accepted belief without a thought.

Third, there are different kinds of love. The Greeks are known for identifying several different types of love.

  • Eros love is romantic love. Any expression of this love comes from the body such as physical touching.
  • Philia love is affectionate love. Any expression of this love comes from the mind such as shared beliefs.
  • Storge love is familial love; biological or chosen. Any expression of this love comes from memories and is outwardly expressed by showing gratitude.
  • Agape love is selfless love. This love is expressed from the spirit and is shown by acts of kindness.
  • Philautia love which is self-love. It expresses itself from the soul outwardly through self respect and appreciation for oneself.

Fourth, love expresses itself in countless ways. I observe love everyday. The silent hello of a smile and nod to a stranger as you walk by each other. The picking up of a dropped item in a parking lot. The opening of doors for others. A grandparent asking their grandchildren if they’re hungry as they enter the home. Best friends watching younger people being silly and they break out in smiles and giggles because they did the same thing many years ago. An elderly man slowly kneeling down to tie the shoe of his beloved partner. Love is expressed best in those small everyday gestures.

The most important lesson learned is that you cannot chase love or it will elude you. You must attract it. Love is attracted to love. When you respect yourself and are kind to yourself in both doing and thought; love will find you. Love breaks down barriers. Love makes the impossible possible. I believe the answer to all the ills in this world is love.
